12 more boats carrying Rohingya pushed back
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) pushed back 12 more boats carrying Rohingya Muslims who fled from Rakhine State of Myanmar after being persecuted by the members of military force of the country.
The boats were trying to enter into Bangladeshi water bodies through five points of Teknaf upazila under Cox’s Bazar district from Friday night 9:00 pm to Saturday morning 6:00 am.
BGB also detained one Tania Akter on allegation of sheltering the Rohingya intruders.
Teknaf-2 BGB commander Lieutenant Colonel Abujar Al Zahid said that a total of 11 boats carrying 15-18 Rohingyas each were trying to enter into Bangladesh through five points.
“BGB forced the boats to go back to Myanmar”, he said.
Zahid said that an operation was conducted at Mufiz Alom’s home in Hoaikyang Mina Bazar area of Teknaf upazila. BGB detained six Rohingyas from the house. They were sent back in the morning.
He said that BGB arrested one Tania Akter for her alleged involvement in connection with sheltering Rohingyas. Later she was handed over to police.
