Navy arrests 92 Myanmar fishermen

Bangladesh Navy arrested 92 fishermen from Myanmar and seized 12 deep-sea fishing trawlers when the nationals of neighboring country catching fish illegally near to Saint Martin`s island on Tuesday morning.

The Myanmar fishermen were arrested on the ground of illegal entrance of Bangladesh territory, a press release said.

The navy also seized huge numbers of fishes and fishing nets from the trawlers. The approximate price of seized trawlers, fishes and nets is nearly Taka 10.80 crore.

Bangladesh Navy Ship Dhaleshwari challenged the trawlers when it was operating a regular patrol within the Bangladesh maritime boundary.

The Navy will handed over Myanmar fishermen and seized trawlers to Teknaf police station on Wednesday morning for taking legal action, the release said.
