No new pay commission in future: Muhith
Finance Minister AMA Muhith on Tuesday said that no new pay commission would be formed in future for increasing salaries of government officials and employees.
Following directives of the pay commission, he said, the salaries of civil servants would automatically increase in every five years like others countries of the world.
The finance minister said this at a press conference at local circuit house in Sylhet.
Replying to a question, Muhith said that the government has formed eighth wage board award for journalists. "I have no information about separate wage board for journalists who are working at private televisions. Information ministry only could know the matter," he said.
"If we get any proposal in future for forming of 9th Wage Board that would be considered," the finance minister said.
Earlier, the minister was speaking at district and city Awami League workers meeting at Poet Nazrul Islam auditorium in city`s Riakabi Bazar.
Muhith said, "We hope that Bangladesh would get recognition of middle income country at UN special committee meeting by 2018."
He said that seize of the next budget of the country would be Taka 3 lakh 40,000 crore and the last budget was three lakh crore, saying Taka 40,000 crore would be increased to the next budget.
Referring to Awami League`s 2009 election pledge envisioned by Sheikh Hasina for making middle income and digital Bangladesh by 2021, the finance minister said, the government is working hard to achieve the target.
Among others, district Awami league general secretary Shafiqur Rahman, organising secretary Misbah Uddin Siraj, acting president of district Awami League Advocate Lutfar Rahman and former ambassador and Bangladesh permanent mission representative to the UN Dr Kashem Abdul Momen addressed the meeting with city Awami League president Badar Uddin Kamran in the chair.
