Toll hike on Rupsha bridge

The increased toll rate on Rupsha bridge of Khulna has come into effect from Sunday. Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges decided to implement the new rate for all kind of vehicles.

New toll rate for trucks has been increased from Tk160 to Tk300 and mini truck from Tk60 to Tk150. Big buses will pay Tk 35 more from now on. Besides, rate for agriculture-vehicles increased from Tk60 to Tk125, Microbus from Tk50 to Tk100. For private car the toll would be Tk75 instead of Tk30.

For the first time cycle van, rickshaw and even bicycle have been brought under the toll policy.

Roads and Highways Department considers the toll hike as a logical step. However, transporters, especially lower income people are having resentment over it.
