Malaysia to allow Bangladesh workers whose visa deadline expired
Malaysia has agreed to allow the Bangladesh migrants working there after expiry of visa deadline to continue to work in the country under its recruitment programme.
Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi made the assurance during a meeting with Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed who is now in Kuala Lumpur to attend Bangladesh Trade and Investment Summit 2016, a media release said on Monday.
During the meeting, Tofail Ahmed said a large number of Bangladesh migrant workers are facing problem because of the expiry of the duration of visa and urged the Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister to consider the issue with sympathy.
Ahmad Zahid Hamidi expressed the keen interest of Malaysia to increase trade and investment relations with Bangladesh and proposed to sign free trade agreement with Bangladesh.
Tofail Ahmed urged Malaysian businesspeople to invest in Bangladesh, saying that an investment friendly atmosphere is prevailing in Bangladesh.
