Nizami appeal verdict Jan 6

The verdict of the appeal hearing of death row convict war criminal Matiur Rahman Nizami, chief of Jamaat-e-Islami will be pronounced on January 6.

The four-member Appellate Division bench of the Supreme Court led by Chief Justice Surindra Kumar Sinha on Tuesday fixed the date for giving the verdict.

The other members include- Justice Nazmun Ara Sultana, Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain and Justice Hasan Foez Siddique.

It is mentionable that, Nizami was sentenced to death by the International Crimes Tribunal on Oct 29, 2014. Eight of the 16 charges against him had been proven.
