MRP to be compulsory for Bangladeshis in USA

Machine readable passport (MRP) is being compulsory for the expatriate Bangladeshis in USA from this November.

Hand written passport of Bangladesh government will be obsolete from November 24 as well. From 27th the MRP will be compulsory.

Already Bangladeshis in USA are coming to collect the MRPs from the Bangladeshi consulate in New York. Besides, immigrants from New Jersey and Connecticut are applying for the MRP every day.

Consulate officers said they are issuing at least 70-80 MRPs daily. An estimated 50 thousand MRPs are expected to be issued in the New York Consulate, said the consulate authority.
