Why does Korail slum catch fire so often?
When the news of fire at Korail slum broke out in the afternoon, many in social media sites posed question about the frequency of fire incidents in Korail slum. This is the second fire incident in Korail slum in nine months.
Fire Service and Civil Defence officilas said that it took 14 fire-fighting units to control the flood.
In March this year, at least two people were injured and 50 shanties were burnt in the Korail slum.
At least five makeshift structures, including two rickshaw garages, were gutted by a fire that broke out in Korail slum in November 2014.
The obvious reason might be high density of population in the Korail slum. People live in makssheft and in conjested place. However, many in social media become suspicious as there were some moves to evict dwellers from the slum.
