PM returns home from Hungary
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina returned home tonight from Hungary after wrapping up four-day bilateral visit in conjunction with Budapest Water Summit 2016 at the invitation of Hungarian President Dr Janos Ader.
It was the highest-level tour to the East European country by any Bangladeshi head of the government, reports BSS.
A special VVIP flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines carrying the premier and her entourage members landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka at 11pm on Wednesday.
Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Rashed Khan Menon, State Minister for Foreign Affairs Md Shahriar Alam, Awami League Presidium Members Advocate Sahara Khatun and Muhammad Faruk Khan and high civil and military officials were present at the airport to receive the prime minister.
Earlier, Sheikh Hasina left Ferenc Liszt International Airport in Budapest for home at 10.15 am local time (3.15 pm Bangladesh time).
Bangabandhu’s younger daughter Sheikh Rehana and Bangladesh Ambassador to Hungary M Abu Zafar were present at the airport, among others, to see the prime minister off. The premier was given a static guard of honour at the airport by the Hungarian armed forces.
During the visit to Hungary, Sheikh Hasina addressed the opening session of the two-day Budapest Water Summit (BWS-2916) on Monday.
She also held the official talks with her Hungarian counterpart Victor Orban and called on President Janos Ader. Sheikh Hasina paid homage to the national heroes of Hungary at ‘Heroes Square’ at City Park in Budapest.
On Tuesday, the prime minister attended a high-level meeting of the summit and a working lunch hosted by President Janos Ader. The prime minister inaugurated Bangladesh-Hungarian Business and Economic Forum the same day.
She also addressed a civic reception organised in her honour by All European Awami League at Four Seasons Hotel here on Tuesday evening.
