Tampaco owner asked to surrender

The High Court (HC) on Wednesday ordered Tampaco Foils’ Limited owner Mokbul Hossain and five other accused to surrender before a lower court in seven days in two cases filed in connection with the factory blast that killed 39 workers and injured several others in September.

The HC bench comprising of Justice AKM Asaduzzaman and Justice Zafar Ahmed passed the order on Wednesday.

Earlier, the court rejected the bail petition filed by Tampaco chairman former BNP lawmaker Mokbul Hussain.

It is mentionable that, a devastating fire raged through Tampaco Foils factory in Tongi BSCIC Industrial area early September 10 that left at least 39 people, mostly Tampaco workers killed, 10 workers missing and dozens injured.
