Attacks on Santals: 2 more arrested

Police arrested two more people for their alleged involvement in the attacks on the Santals in Gobindaganj upazila of Gaibandha early Sunday.

The arrestees are Jony Mia, 28, son of Shahidul Islam and Rana Miah, 32, son of Nazim Uddin residents of Nasirabad village in Gobindaganj upazila.

Subrata Kumar Sarkar, Officer-in-Charge of Gobindaganj Police Station, confirmed the matter to Jagonews24.com.

With this, a total of 12 people have so far been apprehended in connection with the attacks on the Santals, he added.

It is mentionable that, a triangular clash ensued among the indigenous people and the workers of Rangpur Sugar Mills and police following an attempt by the workers of Rangpur Sugar Mill to evict the Santals from the mill area on November 6.
