Santals used by land grabbers: Amu
Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu said that a vested quarter has used Santals to grab government lands.
‘As they have failed to create an issue using militancy, they have used Santals,’ Amu said while briefing journalists.
He said that the disputed land has been used since 1954 for sugar mills and this was not owned by either Santals or Bengali for the last 62 years. There had no place for Santals or Bengali for 62 years.
‘Now a vested quarter is using Santals to grab the lands,’ the industry minister said.
Amu said that Bangladesh’s law and order situation is normal at the moment and so a vested quarter is trying to create anarchy in the country.
He said that the government will not allow anyone to destabilize the country using militancy or any other issues.
‘Police arrested 84 people in connection with the Nasirnagar attack. No one will be spared. The culprits will be brought to justice,’ he said.
Among others, Commerce Minister Tofael Ahmed, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu, State Minister for Labor Mujibul Haq Chunnu, Inspector General of Police Shahidul Haq, RAB chief Benzir Ahmed were present at the meeting.
