Vested quarters involved in land grabbing: Mosharraf
The intelligence service has identified the vested quarters who tried to grab land of Shahebganj farm of Rangpur Sugar Mill.
Senior Secretary of the Industries Ministry Md. Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan said this at a press briefing at the conference room of the ministry on Monday.
Sugar Corporation Chairman AKM Deloar Hossain and Additional Secretary of Home Ministry Abu Hena Md. Rahmatul Munim were present at the briefing.
Mosharraf said, ‘The government collaborating with home ministry, mill’s authority, local leaders and indigenous leaders evicted illegal structures on Sahebganj farm land.
‘They didn’t rush in this regard as it is a sensitive issue. The law enforcers showed the highest patience and professionalism to handle the matter.
‘We came to know three Santal tribesmen were killed. But there was no link between their death and eviction drives. After getting medical report, we will be able to know whether they died naturally or were shot dead’, he said.
The bureaucrat said the deceased families are getting financial assistance and the government will allot a piece of land for every Santal family who has no home.
Anyone won’t be allowed to grab 1, 842 acres farm land of the Sugar Mill, he added.
