Dhaka airport attack: Shihab placed on 5-day remand

A Dhaka court on Sunday placed Shihab on a five-day remand in connection with the killing of an Ansar member at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.

Judge Mahmudul Hasan of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Court passed the order after Mahbubul Alom, Inspector of counter terrorism unit produced him before the court with a 10-day remand prayer.

On 6 November 2016, Shihab stabbed an Ansar member dead and wounded at least three other security personnel while he was trying to enter departure lounge but on duty security personnel obstructed him.

At one stage of their altercation he swooped on them with knife and stabbing randomly.

Ansar member Ziaur Rahman, one of the injured, was admitted at Combined Military Hospital in Dhaka.

Two other injured security personnel of the airport’s Armed Police Battalion has been released after giving first aid in Kurmitola General Hospital.

A day after of the incident, Ansar platoon Commander Ashraful Alom filed a case with Airport Police Station accusing Shihab.
