Varsity admission tests fade GPA-5 holder’s smile

Thousands of students and their guardians as well as teachers flash their most winning smile as the students achieve GPA-5 in Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinations. But university admission tests fade most of the students’ smile as they fail to pass in the tests.

The highest 13.55 per cent university admission aspirants passed in Dhaka University admission test for 2016-17 sessions under ‘Ka’ unit. The results of other units are more frustrating.

Only 19 admission seekers passed against 91 seats for A-commerce group (Science and Humanities) under ‘D’ unit (Business faculty and IBA) of Rajshai University.

Dhaka University vice-chancellor Professor Dr. AAMS Arefin Siddique has blamed students’ habit of not reading main books. He said most of the students getting GPA-5 failed in DU admission test as they don’t read main books. They get GPA-5 reading guide books.
