BGMEA to file review petition

Bangladesh Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) is going to file a review petition with the Supreme Court (SC) against the verdict of it to demolish BGMEA building in Dhaka’s Hatirjheel area.

In a quick response, Mohammad Nasir, vice-president (Finance) of the organization confirmed the matter to Jagonews after releasing the apex court verdict.

‘We have heard that the Appellate Division verdict has been published, after getting full copy of verdict, the review plea will be submitted within 30 days,’ said Mohammad Nasir.

‘We have still options to go for review within 30 days, we will talk to our lawyer about the matter, then we will go for review petition against the verdict,’ he said, adding, ‘If SC will stand by the same verdict on the matter, ultimately we have no option’.

The Appellate Division of Supreme Court has ordered BGMEA to demolish its 18- storied building immediately at its own cost.

The apex court has released its full verdict of 35 pages on its website on Tuesday after signing five justices of Appellate Division led by chief justice Surendra Kumar Sinha.
