CCTV to be mandatory in cyber cafes and restaurants
State Minister for Post and Telecommunication Tarana Halim said installing CCTV in all cyber cafes and restaurants is going to be mandatory in order to stop cyber crime by using social media.
She said this at a prize giving ceremony among the best employees of postal department to mark World Postal Day in the capital’s GPO on Sunday.
If the initiative is implemented, there will be a possibility to reduce cyber crime and cyber cafe’s owners as well as users will be brought to under surveillance, the minister said.
We are going to meet BRTC very soon and make mandatory installing CCTV for all the cafes and food corners, she said.
If any ‘offensive’ content is published from any cyber cafes, law enforcers will be able to confiscate equipments of the cafe immediately, she added.
