6 trawlers with 98 fishermen missing in Bay of Bengal

Six trawlers with 98 fishermen went missing due to depression in the Bay of Bengal.

The trawlers went missing as heavy winds had been blowing into deep sea since Saturday morning to Sunday noon, Barguna trawler owner association said.

The trawlers are FB Nur Banu, FB Tamanna, FB Abdullah, FB Mehrin, FB Numana and FB Mayer Doa.

Md. Golam Mostofa, president of Barguna trawler owner association, said rescue operation is underway to recover the missing fishermen. All the fishermen were hailing from different areas of Barguna.

We have already informed the trawler missing news to coast guard’s west zone, they are on the way to recover missing trawler and fishermen, he added.
