Cricketer Shahadat and his wife acquitted

A Dhaka court on Sunday noon acquitted former national cricketer Shahadat Hossain and his wife Jesmine Jahan in the case filed over the torture on 11-year-old domestic help.

Judge Tanjina Ismail of Dhaka’s Fifth Tribunal for Prevention of Women & Children Repression court passed the order.

On October 27, Shahadat and his wife pleaded not guilty and demanded justice after the court read out the charges to them.

The domestic help, Mahfuza Akhtar Happy, brought the allegation of torture against the couple on September 6 last year. Later, a case was filed against them with Mirpur Police Station.

Police on December 27, 2015 pressed charges against the two.
