SC upholds Manju`s acquittal in graft case
The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court on Sunday upheld a High Court order that acquitted Environment and Forest Minister Anwar Hossain Manju in a graft case filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
An Appellate Division panel headed by Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha passed the order, scrapping an appeal filed by the ACC against the High Court verdict.
A lower court on May 18, 2008, sentenced Manju to 13-year imprisonment. But following an appeal filed by Manju, the High Court on August 22, 2010, canceled the lower court verdict.
