Gulshan attack: arms suppliers held
The Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crimes unit of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) said they arrested arms suppliers to the attackers to Gulshan restaurant.
The arrestees were identified as Abu Taher, 37, Mizanur Rahman, 38, Selim Mia, 45, and Toufiqul Islam alias Doctor Tofique, 32. Of them small Mizan provided arms to Tamim Chowdhury and Marzan from the Indian frontier.
Police arrested them from capital’s Darussalam area on Wednesday night. They also recovered 787 detonators and a 0.9mm pistol from their possession.
Hafizur Rahman, assistant commissioner of DMP (media) told Jagonews24.com that the arrestees were active member of JMB and confessed their involvement with arms and detonating smuggling in Indian frontier near Chapainawabganj’s Shibganj.
In the attack on Holey Artisan Bakery on July 1, the attackers killed 20 hostages - nine Italian, seven Japanese, two Bangladeshis, one Indian, and one Bangladesh-born US citizen - and two police officers.
Five attackers were also killed in a military operation that ended the hostage crisis on July 2.
