Former MP among 8 get life term in murder case

A Khulna court on Thursday sentenced eight people including a former lawmaker life term imprisonment for killing Dr Akram Ali Molla in Avoynagar upazila of Jessore district in 2006.

Khulna Divisional Speedy Tribunal Judge MA Rob Hawlader handed down the verdict.

The convict MP was identified as MM Amin Uddin.

According to the prosecution, Akram Ali was killed by miscreants while he was returning home at Avoynagar Hospital road area around 10pm on August 13, 2006.

Victim’s brother Ashraf Ali filed a case with Avoynagar Police Station in this regard.

Police submitted charge sheet accusing 11 people on November 15, 2008.
