AL MP Bodi jailed for 3 years
A Dhaka court has sentenced ruling party Awami League’s Cox’s Bazar 4 constituency lawmaker Abdur Rahman Bodi to three years imprisonment in a graft case.
Judge Abu Ahmed Jamadar of the Dhaka’s Special Judge’s Court 3 gave the verdict on Wednesday.
The case was filed with Ramna police station on August 21, 2014, over amassing illegal wealth and concealing information in his wealth statement submitted to the anti-graft watchdog.
Earlier the MP threatened to resign if the ACC could prove his involvement in corruption.
According to the case, the lawmaker informed the ACC on March 20 last year that he along with his wife and children owned movable and immovable properties worth Tk5.20 crore. But his income tax return showed that they possessed properties worth Tk16.06 crore till June 30, 2013.
