Election held peacefully: CEC

CEC Kazi Rakibuddin Ahmad has claimed the Union Parishad elections have been held in free, fair and peaceful manner except some exceptions.

The CEC made the comment while addressing journalists at a press conference, held at the EC secretariat, in the capital on Monday evening.

Voting in 400 Union Parishads, including 22 in the former enclaves in Lalmonirhat, Kurigram and Panchagarh started in the morning, but it was suspended in two centers as the law and order situation went out of control.

Rakibuddin said former enclaves’ people of three districts have franchised their voting rights after six decades.
