Dhaka concerned over missile attack targeting Makkah

Dhaka expressed deep concern at the reported missile attack by the Houthi targeting the holiest shrine of Islam in Makkah, Saudi Arabia on Thursday night.

‘Bangladesh reiterates its commitment to stand by the government and the people of the Kingdom to protect and secure the two holy mosques,’ a foreign ministry press statement said on Monday, reports BSS.

The statement read that ‘Bangladesh strongly condemns such attacks on the very fundamental symbol of faith and unity of Muslim Ummah’.

Saudi state media reported earlier that Saudi Arabia has allegedly intercepted a ballistic missile launched from Houthi-controlled territory in Yemen towards Islam’s holiest city of Makkha.

Houthi rebels launched a Scud missile from Saada province towards Makkha at 21:00 local time (18:00 GMT) on Thursday, the state media said quoting the Saudi-led coalition.
