Gulistan hawkers to be shifted to Nattyamancha: Syed Khokon

Dhaka South city mayor Sayed Khokon on Saturday said hawkers of Gulistan area would be shifted to Kazi Bashir Milanayatan ( Mahanagar Nattyamancha) and around its empty area in near Gulistan in Dhaka.

25,006 hawkers of Gulistan area included under this rehabilitation project, he said at a briefing at Nagarbhaban.

The hawker’s rehabilitation will be on temporary basis, the Mayor said.

Earlier on October 27, Dhaka South City Corporation evicted over 100 hawkers and demolished illegal structures on different roads in Gulistan area amid serious protests from the evicted hawkers who also clashed with city corporation employees, police ruling Awami League-backed Bangladesh Chhatra League activists.
