Bangladeshi hurt in BSF firing in Kurigram

A Bangladeshi farmer was shot by Indian Border Security Force (BSF) members on Anantapur border in Phulbari upazila in Kurigram Friday morning.

The victim was identified as Aminul Islam, 35, son of Ashraf Ali of Antopur village in the upazila.

Lt Col Zakir Hossen, director of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in Kurigarm, said BSF troops from Chowdhury Hat camp opened fire on Friday around 9:30pm, leaving him injured.

BSF men shot at Aminul when he was carrying sackful of beef on the border to enter the Bangladesh from Indian territory, the director said.
