Illegal structures must be demolished: Syed Khokon

Illegal structures on both sides of roads must be demolished to free footpaths for pedestrians as per direction of High Court, Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Syed Khokon said on Thursday.

A mobile court of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) came under attack by the hawkers at Gulistan area on Thursday, during a drive to evict them from the footpaths.

Then being present at the area, Mayor urged the government officials to continue eviction drive.

He said High Court ordered to evict illegal structures on the sides of roads. As a Mayor of the city I request law enforcers to implement High Court order.

I don’t want to see death of a pregnant mother on the roads because of traffic congestion, said DSCC Mayor.

Roads and footpaths of the city must be clear from illegal occupation and all illegal structures must be demolished, he added.
