Man to walk gallows for killing wife

A man has been sentenced to death by a Natore court for killing his wife Asma Begum at Pakuria village under Singra upazila in the district around four years back.

Natore District and Sessions Judge Rezaul Karim pronounced the verdict on Thursday.

The convict was identified as Hasan, a resident of Pakuria village under Singra upazila in Natore.

According to the prosecution, the convict strangled his wife Asma over family feud and trying to hang her dead body in a tree beside his house when locals caught him in the area on July 14, 2002.

A murder case was lodged against Hasan with concerned police station in this regard.

After investigation, the police submitted charge sheet to the court against Hasan.

Later, the judge examining witnesses and relevant evidences announced the judgment.
