Govt sincere over trial of killing incidents: Hanif
Awami League joint general secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif on Wednesday said the government is sincere about wanting to carry out the trial of the recent killing incidents.
“Due to limitations of resources and proper technology, law enforcing agencies sometimes can’t complete investigation within a short time. It doesn’t mean that the government is not sincere to bring the perpetrators to book,” he said.
Hanif came up with the remarks while speaking at a press briefing at the political office of the AL chief at Dhanmondi in the city.
Those who want to hamper the development of the country and make the government unstable are involved in the foreigner killings, said the ruling party politician.
Names of some BNP leaders have been found from the arrestees in the foreigner killing incidents after the primary interrogation, he added.
The government is committed to bring the bloggers’ assassinators to book, Hanif added. “Hitting a blogger is similar to hitting free thinkers,” he added.
Reprimanding BNP chief Khaleda Zia for her call to create unity in the country, the ruling party politician asked, “Which unity Khaleda called on?”
It is not possible to establish national unity with Khaleda who created alliance with war criminals, thieves and killers, Hanif said.
Hanif also claimed Bangladeshi groups who are marked as militants are sheltered by BNP-Jamaat alliance. These groups are carrying out subversive activities throughout the country, he added.
“BNP-Jamaat are two sides of the same coin. There is no difference between the two groups,” Hanif alleged.
