Three Jamaat activists held in Jatrabari
Three activists of Jamaat-e-Islami were arrested after a clash with police at Konapara in the city’s Jatrabari area on Wednesday morning.
Witnesses said a group of Jamaat men brought out a sudden procession in the area at about 8:05 am.
As police tried to disperse them, a chase and counter-chase ensued between the Jamaat men and the law enforcers.
The Jamaat activists hurled brickbats at the police and exploded some crude bombs, prompting the law enforcers to fire eight blank shots.
At one stage, police dispersed the procession through baton charge and later arrested the three Jamaat men from the area.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Wari Zone police, Nurul Islam confirmed the matter.
