Grey Dhaka winner at Cannes Product Design Lions for eco-cooler

Grey Dhaka has won the Product Design Lions category in Cannes this year.

Out of the three nominations they received, two of those were for the currently-popular Eco-Cooler concept, the world’s first-ever zero electricity air cooler, which uses re-purposed plastic bottles cut in half and put into a grid.

Based on wind direction and airflow pressure, the Eco-Cooler has succeeded in decreasing the temperature in tin huts by up to 5° Celsius. It is a concern of Grameen Intel Social Business.

Managing director and chief creative officer of Grey Dhaka, Syed Gousul Alam Shaon, said that they have given Bangladesh another reason to be proud of, reports UNB.

‘After initial tests, blueprints of the Eco-Cooler were put up online for everyone to download for free. Raw materials are easily available, therefore, making Eco-Coolers a cost-effective and environmentally-friendly solution,’ he added.

The third nomination was for Pedal Pure, a pedal-powered water filter from WaterAid.
