Eight Bangladeshi nationals were arrested by Khardah police in West Bengal's North 24 Parganas district on charges of illegal entry into India.

Acting on a tip-off, the Khardah police station under Barrackpore Commissionerate conducted raids on Wednesday, November 13, in Titagarh Panitang, Khardah Notun Palli, and Shalpata Bagan areas, where the suspects were reportedly residing without valid documents.

Police identified three of the detained as Babul Sheikh, Faruq Sheikh, and Ali Sheikh, all originally from Gopalganj, Bangladesh.

They had been living in rented homes in these areas but lacked official entry permits into India.

During preliminary questioning, the suspects claimed they had come to India for employment. However, Khardah police are investigating whether they had other motives.

The arrested individuals were presented before Barrackpore Court on Thursday, November 14.
