US calls for full investigations into deaths in recent protests
The United States has renewed its call for comprehensive investigations into the deaths of civilians during recent protests and subsequent crackdowns in Bangladesh.
"We believe there must be full investigations into the civilians who lost their lives during the protests and the crackdown in recent months," said US Department of State Spokesperson Matthew Miller during a regular media briefing on Monday (September 30).
Miller emphasised the need for accountability for those responsible for the violence.
Additionally, in response to a media question, he underscored the importance of press freedom in Bangladesh and globally.
