Allegations of US role in Hasina's ouster ‘laughable’: State Dept
The US Department of State has dismissed claims that the United States was involved in former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's resignation, calling the allegations "laughable."
"That's laughable," Principal Deputy Spokesperson Vedant Patel said during a briefing in Washington on August 13. He emphasised that any suggestion of US involvement in Hasina's resignation is entirely false.
"We have seen a lot of disinformation in recent weeks," Patel added, noting the US commitment to combating misinformation, particularly in South Asia.
Earlier, the White House also denied any involvement in the fall of the Sheikh Hasina-led government. Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre stated, "Any reports or rumors that the United States government was involved in these events are simply false."
