Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Muhammad Yunus on taking oath as the Chief Adviser to the interim government of Bangladesh.
In a post on his X handle, Modi wrote, “My best wishes to Professor Muhammad Yunus on assuming his new responsibilities.”
He added, “We hope for an early return to normalcy, ensuring the safety and protection of Hindus and all other minority communities.”
Modi also asserted that India remains committed to working with Bangladesh to fulfill the shared aspirations of both nations for peace, security, and development.
President Mohammed Shahabuddin administered the oath to Muhammad Yunus as Chief Adviser at Bangabhaban shortly after 9:00 pm on Thursday. The president also swore in 13 advisers to the interim government, although three advisers could not attend as they were out of Dhaka.
