Emirates plane catches fire at Dubai airport
An Emirates plane caught fire after crash-landed at Dubai airport on Wednesday.
Flight EK521 was flying from Trivandrum International Airport in Thiruvananthapuram, India, to Dubai, where it had to make an emergency landing.
Pictures purportedly showing the incident posted on social media showed a thick black plume of smoke rising from the top of a burning plane.
The Dubai government media office said on its official Twitter account that ‘all passengers were evacuated safely and no injuries have been reported so far.’
The Twitter account of live air traffic monitor Flightradar24 said takeoffs and landings at Dubai had been suspended because of the incident, adding that the plane involved was a Boeing 777-300 A6-EMW.
