Singaporeans urged to be vigilant when travelling to BD
Those travelling to or residing in Bangladesh are ‘strongly advised’ to take all necessary precautions for their personal safety, said Singapore’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) on Thursday (Jul 28).
In a travel notice posted on its website, MFA said Singaporeans should take precautions such as monitoring the local news and heeding the instructions of the local authorities.
‘Singaporeans should remain vigilant and where possible, avoid public gatherings crowded places and locations popular with foreigners,’ the notice said.
Travellers should also purchase comprehensive travel insurance and be familiar with the terms and coverage, the ministry added.
The travel notice comes after a terrorist attack in Dhaka on Jul 1 which claimed the lives of 20 hostages, most of whom were foreigners.
Singaporeans are encouraged to eRegister with MFA in case of emergencies.
