Indian Air Force plane goes missing
An Indian Air Force plane carrying 29 personnel, including six crew members, on board went missing Friday while making its way back to Port Blair from Chennai.
The An-32 aircraft was on a courier flight, and its Expected Time of Arrival at Port Blair was 11.30 am.
The aircraft was last spotted on the radar by Air Traffic Control officials at 8.12 am. Air Force claimed that they were in touch with the aircraft till 9.30 am, reports India Express.
Rescue operations are currently underway to locate the aircraft. Two military planes and four Navy warships have been dispatched to assist rescue efforts in Bay of Bengal.
Media reports claim that bad weather could have played a role in the aircraft going off the radar. The AN-32 aircraft is a twin-engine turboprop military transport aircraft.
