Ex-Indian PM Manmohan Singh admitted to hospital

Former Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Wednesday was admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) after he complained of weakness following a fever, news agency PTI reported.

According to the news agency, the 89-year-old had a fever on Monday and had recovered from it, but experienced weakness and is currently on fluids.

A Congress leader said that Singh’s condition is stable and he is undergoing routine treatment. “There are some unsubstantiated rumours with regards to former PM, Dr Manmohan Singh Ji’s health. His condition is stable. He is undergoing routine treatment. We will share any updates as needed. We thank our friends in media for their concern,” Pranav Jha, AICC Communications Secretary said in a tweet.

In April this year, Singh was admitted to the hospital due to a coronavirus infection. A month later, he was again admitted to AIIMS after he complained of chest pain.

Congress leader Siddaramaiah took to Twitter to express concern about the former PM’s health. “Sad to know that former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh is admitted to AIIMS. I wish him a speedy recovery,” he tweeted.
