Indian police fights over ‘bribe’ sharing

A video of two policemen publicly fighting at an intersection in Lucknow, allegedly over sharing money earned from bribes has gone viral.

The incident reportedly happened on Sunday in Itaunja area. The policemen, who were posted to regulate traffic in the area were allegedly collecting money from local street vendors and trucks, according to ANI.

One of them, Virendra Yadav, has been suspended. Superintendent of Police Manjil Saini said, a letter has been written to Homeguard directorate for seeking action against the homeguard, with whom policeman Yadav was caught in a brawl.

Mr. Saini, however, refuted the allegations that the duo were fighting over bribe. ‘This is not true at all. Moreover the video is nearly two-three days old,’ Mr. Saini said.
