Poet Shankha Ghosh dies of Coronavirus
Noted Indian poet Shankha Ghosh died of Coronavirus on Wednesday. He was 89, reports Indian West Bengal’s daily Anandabazar.
He tested positive for the virus on April 14. He was also suffering from old-age complications.
He was under medical treatment at home after being infected with the virus.
He was given ventilator support on Wednesday morning after his health condition deteriorated on Tuesday.
However, West Bengal Chief Minister expressed her deep shock at the death of Shankha Ghosh.
Ghosh won the prestigious Jnanpith award in 2016. He was conferred the Sahitya Akademi award in 1977 and is the author of literary works like ‘Babarer Prarthana’, ‘Murkho Boro, Samajik Nyay’ and ‘Adim Lata - Gulmomay’.
