India records 1,761 Covid-19 deaths, highest one-day spike

In a slight drop in the daily Covid-19 infection cases, India registered over 2.59 fresh cases in the past 24 hours, thrusting the caseload in the country to over 1.53 crore, according to the Union health ministry. 

The death toll crossed 1.80 lakh after 1,761 Covid-19 patients succumbed to the infection in one day, reports India Today.

While the maximum number of cases has been contributed by Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi, the highest number of casualties, in the past 24 hours, were reported from Maharashtra (351), followed by Delhi with 240 casualties.
