All flights to and from Myanmar suspended

All pilots have been instructed not to fly to Myanmar without permission, according to a Myanmar Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) seen by the Myanmar Times and issued to all pilots on February 1. 

All previous permission to land and take off from Myanmar has been revoked. This includes all domestic and international relief flights. 

According to the NOTAM, all flights have been suspended and airports closed until 2359 hours, May 31. 

NOTAMs are unclassified notices or advisories distributed by means of telecommunication that contain information concerning the establishment, conditions or change in any aeronautical facility, service, procedure or hazard, the timely knowledge of which is essential to personnel and systems concerned with flight operations.

Airports in Myanmar have not received official instructions on the flight suspensions, but foreign embassies in the country have already notified citizens that international flights will be suspended until April 30.

The Tatmadaw (military) on February 1 announced a state of emergency for a period of one year in Myanmar. Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Services Min Aung Hlaing is now in power of the State for the duration of the state of emergency.  

Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and former President U Win Myint have been detained.
