India records 3,604 new coronavirus cases in 24-hr, total count tops 70,000

India registered over 3,600 positive cases of novel coronavirus in 24 hours, pushing the country's tally to 70,756 on Tuesday morning, reports India Today.

The death toll due to coronavirus on Tuesday rose to 2,293 with 87 fresh fatalities, according to the Union health ministry.

As per the latest data by the health ministry, the total numbers of cases in India climbed to 70,756 after 3,604 cases were registered in the last 24 hours, ending Tuesday morning.

While active cases of coronavirus stood at 46,008, 22,454 patients were cured or discharged. One patient has migrated.

According to the health ministry data updated on Tuesday morning, the highest number of confirmed cases in the country is from Maharashtra at 23,401 followed by Gujarat at 8,541, Tamil Nadu at 8,002, Delhi at 7,233, Rajasthan at 3,988, Madhya Pradesh at 3,785, and Uttar Pradesh at 3,573.

Maharashtra also recorded the highest number of fatalities. The death toll due to Covid-19 in Maharashtra stood at 868 on Tuesday.
