Coronavirus cases in India rise to 293
The number of COVID-19 positive cases surged to 293 in India as of March 21. With four dead, and several recovered, the number of active coronavirus cases exceeded 260, reports The Hindu.
A nation-wide call for a 'Janata curfew' has been announced from 7am to 9pm on March 22 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Railways will not ply any passenger trains in the said hours; bus connectivity too is likely to be limited.
The new coronavirus pandemic, first emerged in the Chinese city of Wuhan in December last year, kept spreading to newer countries.
The deadly virus spread to at least 186 countries and territories, killing some 11,842 people globally, according to Worldometer, a website which compiles number of new coronavirus cases and deaths from it.
As many as 284,649 people worldwide caught the virus. Among them, 93,575 people recovered from the virus, the website said.
