Mamata to power in West Bengal

After a month long electoral battle and two week long wait since the last vote was polled, the election results have arrived. And in tune with what the exit polls said, Mamata Banerjee has become the CM of West Bengal of India for second time.

TMC fighting alone has infact increased its seat share. It is currently ahead in 214 seats. The Left has cut a sorry face and is ahead only in 30 seats. Congress is currently ahead in 40 seats.

BJP at one point of time was ahead in 8 seats, but they are now leading in 4 seats. As per EC data, TMC has nearly won 45.6% of the popular votes.

The main issues which opposition highlighted in the elections are Saradha scam, Narada sting, law and order situation in the state.

On the other hand, Mamata Banerjee tried to highlight schemes like Kanyashree, outreach program for the tribals, high growth rate in the state in the last 5 years etc as her achievement.

What the exit polls say:
The exit polls have predicted a win for Mamata led TMC govt. Nielson gave 163 to TMC and 126 to Cong-Left. C-voter has predicted 167 for TMC and 120 for the alliance. Chanakya has given 210 for TMC, Axis- My India has predicted a massive sweep for Didi estimating seats between 233-251.

The opposition though have rubbished the exit polls saying they will be winning comfortably.
