India’s foreign secy to visit Dhaka Wednesday

India’s Foreign Secretary S Jaishankar will arrive in Dhaka on Wednesday on a two-day official visit to meet the government high officials to discuss Bangladesh’s security and other bilateral issues.

Jaishankar is coming as a special envoy of Indian government and is expected to carry a message from Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to PM Sheikh Hasina over the ongoing security situation in Bangladesh, informed diplomatic sources on Monday.

According to the diplomatic source, Dhaka is considering his visit as ‘significant’, which is taking place soon after US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Nisha Desai Biswal visited the city following the brutal murder of a local staff of USAID and LGBT activist Xulhaz Mannan and his friend Mahbub Tonoy.
