Las Vegas shooting: 2 killed in Mandalay Bay casino
Police in Las Vegas are responding to reports of an active shooter at the Mandalay Bay casino.
At least two people are reported to have died and 24 people have been injured after shooting broke out at the Route 91 Harvest country music festival.
Concertgoers reported seeing muzzle flashes from the upper floors of the Mandalay Bay hotel and casino across Las Vegas Boulevard from the festival and the sound of what they described as automatic gunfire, according to the Associated Press.
Witnesses posted video footage of what appeared to be gunfire on social media, and artists at the festival tweeted about gunshots.
Police confirmed they were responding to “reports of an active shooter” at or around the casino.
The city’s McCarran International airport said flights in and out of the airport “have been temporarily halted in response to reported shooting incident on Las Vegas Strip”.
Las Vegas city hall said it was a “very sad night for Las Vegas” and warned members of the public to stay away from the south end of the Vegas strip, where the Mandalay Bay hotel and casino is located.
