World’s heaviest woman passes away in Abu Dhabi
Eman Ahmed, the world's heaviest woman, who underwent a weight-loss surgery in Mumbai earlier this year, passed away in Abu Dhabi on Monday morning, reported ANI.
Confirming the news, Hindustan Times quoted sources at the Burjeel Hospital in Abu Dhabi as saying that heart diseases and kidney dysfunction resulted in Ahmed's death.
"She had been under the supervision of a medical team of over 20 doctors from different specialities who were managing her medical condition from the time she arrived in the UAE. Our prayers and heartfelt condolences go out to her family," the report quoted a hospital source as saying.
Ahmed, an Egyptian national, weighed 500 kgs when she was moved to Mumbai's Saifee Hospital on 11 February, this year, from Egypt. The doctors at the hospital claimed that she had lost a whopping 262 kgs in just two months.
Before being brought to Mumbai, Ahmed was confined to her bed and had not moved out of her house for the last 25 years.
